Timeless Newborn Portraits for the Moments You’ll Never Want to Forget

Your baby will only be this little once.

Those first days are filled with emotions, new routines, sleepy cuddles, and moments that seem to pass far too quickly. Newborn photography gives you a way to slow down and preserve this beginning of your family’s story—not just for today, but for the generations who come after you.

At PDJ Photography, I specialize in newborn photography for families in Spring, The Woodlands, Humble, Atascocita and North Houston, Texas. My newborn sessions combine beautifully posed portraits with natural family images, creating a collection that captures both your baby’s delicate details and the connection between the people who love them most.

Whether you’re looking for a classic posed newborn session, a more relaxed lifestyle experience, or a combination of both, I’ll guide you through the entire process.

Your baby doesn’t need to know how to pose. That’s my job.

A Newborn Photography Experience Designed Around Your Baby

Newborn sessions aren’t about forcing a baby into a pose or rushing through a checklist of photographs.

Babies have their own personalities, schedules, and preferences. Some sleep through their entire session. Some need to be fed, held, rocked, and comforted along the way. Some arrive ready to cooperate, while others want to make sure everyone knows who’s really in charge.

That’s completely okay.

Your session is paced around your baby and includes plenty of time for feeding, soothing, diaper changes, and cuddles when needed.

My goal is to create beautiful portraits while making sure your experience feels calm, intentional, and enjoyable.

What Is Included in Your Newborn Session?

Your newborn experience includes posed newborn photography and family portraits, giving you a variety of images rather than an entire gallery of the same type of pose.

  • Access to my newborn wardrobe and studio resources

Posed Newborn Photography

There is something timeless about a beautifully posed newborn portrait.

During the posed portion of your session, I carefully photograph your baby using age-appropriate poses, wraps, textures, and carefully selected props to create classic portraits that will still feel beautiful years from now.

These images can become the photographs you display in your home, place in album, or eventually pass down to your child.

Every pose is approached with your baby’s safety and comfort as the priority.

Lifestyle Newborn Photography

Not every meaningful newborn photography needs to be perfectly posed.

Lifestyle images allow us to capture the connection between you and your baby—the way you hold them, look at them, comfort them, and interact with them.

These photographs can be simple and natural while still being beautifully composed.

Depending on your session, we may photograph:

  • Parents cuddling their newborn

  • Baby being held by Mom or Dad

  • Family portraits

  • Sibling interactions

  • Feeding and soothing moments

  • Baby in their nursery or meaningful surroundings

  • Those quiet in-between moments that happen naturally

These photographs tell the story of what it actually felt like to bring your baby home.

Newborn Safety Comes First

Your photographer should know more than how to operate a camera.

Newborns require patience, experience, and an understanding of how to safely work with babies who cannot support their own heads, regulate their body temperature, or communicate what they need.

I have spent years specializing in newborn photography and have invested in education and training with experienced newborn photographers so that I can provide a carefully controlled and baby-led experience.

During your session:

Your baby’s safety always comes before getting the photograph.

If your baby needs to be fed, we stop.

If your baby needs a diaper change, we stop.

If your baby needs to be held rocked, or comforted, we stop.

If a pose isn’t working for your baby, we move on.

Beautiful photographs are important.

Your baby’s wellbeing is more important.

When Should You Book Your Newborn Photographer?

The best time to reserve your newborn session is during pregnancy.

I recommend reaching out during your second or third trimester so we can reserve space around your estimated due date.

Your actual session date is scheduled once your baby arrives.

Most posed newborn sessions take place during the first couple of weeks after birth, when babies tend to be sleepier and naturally curl into those sweet newborn positions.

However, there isn’t a magic expiration date on newborn photography.

If your baby is older than two weeks, don’t assume you’ve missed your opportunity. I usually get newborn portraits all the way up to 28 days.

We’ll work with your baby’s age, temperament, and developmental stage to create beautiful photographs.

What If My Baby Comes Early or Late?

Babies aren’t known for following calendars.

That’s why I schedule newborn sessions around your estimated due date rather requiring you to know the exact date months in advance.

Once your baby arrives, simply let me know.

We’ll finalize your session date based on your baby’s arrival and my availability.

What Should You Bring?

You don’t need to pack your entire house.

I’ll provide many of the items needed for the photography portion of your session.

For your baby, I generally recommend bringing:

  • Plenty of diapers

  • Formula if your baby is formula-fed

  • A pacifier if your baby uses one

  • A loose-fitting sleeper or outfit for arrival

  • Any special sentimental item you’d like incorporated

Before your session, you’ll receive preparation information so you know exactly what to expect.

And yes—feeding your baby right before the session can be incredibly helpful.

But don’t stress if your baby needs another feeding once you arrive.

That’s part of newborn photography.

What Should Parents Wear?

Comfort is key.

You don’t need to purchase an entirely new wardrobe for your newborn session.

I’ll provide guidance on colors, textures, and clothing choices so your family photographs coordinate beautifully without looking overly matched.

For parents who want a more styled experience, wardrobe guidance is available as part of the planning process.

The goal is for your clothing to complement your baby—not compete with them.

What If My Baby Won’t Sleep?

That’s okay.

Really.

A newborn session isn’t dependent on your baby sleeping for three hours straight.

Some babies sleep beautifully.

Some babies need more soothing.

Some babies decide they would rather stare directly into the camera.

We work with the baby we have that day.

There are beautiful photographs to be created whether your baby is sleepy, awake, curious, cuddly, or completely unimpressed with our plans.

Including the People Who Love Your Baby Most

Your newborn session isn’t just about photographing your baby.

It’s about documenting your family as it exists at this moment.

Parent portraits are an important part of the experience, because years from now your child won’t just want to see what they looked like as a newborn.

They’ll want to see you holding them.

They’ll want to see how small they were in your arms.

They’ll want to see the people who loved them before they were old enough to remember.

That’s why your newborn session includes opportunities for parent and family portraits as well as individual baby portraits.

Newborn Photography That Becomes More Than a Digital Gallery

Your photographs deserve to exist somewhere other than your phone.

Digital images are convenient, but printed photographs become part of your family’s history.

At PDJ Photography, I offer professionally printed artwork and heirloom products designed to help you preserve your family’s photographs for years to come.

Heirloom Options Include:

Albums

Beautifully designed albums allow you to tell the story of your baby’s arrival through a collection of photographs you can hold, revisit, and eventually pass down.

Legacy Boxes

A Legacy Box provides a meaningful way to preserve your favorite photographs professionally mounted and kept together in one beautiful presentation.

Wall Art

Turn the photographs you love most into artwork you can actually see every day.

Professional Prints

Create tangible photographs for frames, gifts, grandparents, and future generations.

Because one day, your baby won’t be a baby anymore.

And your photographs will become part of their story.

Why Choose PDJ Photography for Your Newborn Session?

Choosing a newborn photographer is about more than finding someone whose photographs you like.

You are trusting that person with your newborn.

You want someone who understands babies.

Someone who knows when to slow down.

Someone who can create beautiful images without making the experience stressful.

And someone who understands that these photographs aren't simply social media content—they are family history.

With nearly 14 years of photography experience and a specialization in newborn and family portraiture, I bring both technical experience and a genuine understanding of how quickly these seasons of life pass.

My job is to take care of the details so you can focus on your baby.

Your Baby Will Never Be This Little Again

The sleepless nights will eventually become a distant memory.

The tiny clothes will be packed away.

The nursery will change.

Your baby will grow into a toddler, then a child, and eventually an adult with a life of their own.

But you'll always be able to look back and remember the beginning.

The way they fit in your arms.

The people who gathered around them.

The love you felt before you even knew who they would become.

Let's preserve that beginning.

Your baby's story starts here.
